Our founder and our purpose ...

Leading Progress was established by Richard Dent OAM FAICD, to help lead progress towards a better world.

Richard is an accomplished CEO, Executive, Chair and Board Director with more than 30 years’ senior experience in exercising and developing leadership: in businesses, governments, non-profits and communities.

As CEO of Leadership Victoria from 2012 to 2019, he led a 400% growth in annual leadership activity, introduced a coaching panel, created programs focusing on ethics, multicultural leadership, gender equity, corporate ethics, rural and regional equity, and a wide range of other activities.  He also Chaired the international Leadership Network, helping co-ordinate and link similar leadership programs across Australia, Aotearoa, Fiji, and America.

Richard has been CEO of organisations with up to 1200 staff, and a senior executive across multiple fields, always leading significant sustainable organisational growth and impact. Richard's activities have particularly focused on Indigenous, gender, disability, cultural and rural/regional leadership and equity.

Richard has also Chaired National Disability Services Victoria, Disability Professionals Victoria, Deakin University Health Sciences and The Rotary Melbourne Foundation. He is current Chair of Forever Friends Animal Rescue, and Board member of the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations and Tradeswomen Australia.

Richard has multiple Masters and other post-graduate qualifications, including from Harvard University. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has been recognised with a Medal in the Order of Australia.

Richard is highly skilled in consulting and collaborating with complex stakeholder groups. With five post-graduate qualifications, he brings a strong sense of academic rigour applied to direct practical contexts. He is deeply experienced in formulating and implementing strategic directions to support vision, mission, strategic plan, annual goals and objectives. His practical expertise is also strong in key areas including finance, marketing, HR, quality, identification of customer needs, submission writing, operational excellence and sound business development across multiple organisations.
